Privacy policy
Your bread stays yours.
Crusty has no accounts, no servers of its own, no analytics, and no advertising. Everything it knows lives on your devices and, if you turn on sync, in your own iCloud.
Last updated September 25, 2026.
What Crusty stores, and where
These are saved only in the app’s own storage on your device:
- Your settings: kitchen temperature, sleep hours, busy times, and units.
- Your recipes and any changes you save as your own.
- Your bakes: plans, the times you log, dough temperatures, ratings, and notes.
- Your starter log: feeds, ratios, and when it peaked.
Deleting the app deletes it from that device. It is included in your device backups the same way other app data is.
iCloud sync
With “Sync with iCloud” on (Settings › Your devices), your recipes, bakes, bake log, starters, and photos are stored in your private iCloud database so your other devices signed in to the same Apple Account can see them. That storage belongs to your Apple Account: Crusty’s developer cannot see or access it. Your calendar choices are not synced. Turn sync off at any time; “Delete all data” with sync on also deletes it from iCloud. See Apple’s iCloud security overview.
Your calendar
If you connect your calendar, Crusty reads events from the calendars you choose, on your device, to avoid scheduling hands-on steps while you’re busy. If you turn on “Add steps to my calendar,” it creates a calendar named Crusty and adds your bake’s steps to it. Calendar data is never sent anywhere by Crusty. If your calendars sync through iCloud or another account, events Crusty adds sync the same way your own events do.
Notifications and the Lock Screen
Reminders and the Lock Screen countdown are created on your device. Crusty does not use a push notification server.
Apple Watch
Your iPhone sends the Watch app a short summary of your bakes and starter (recipe names, step names, and times) directly, through Apple’s Watch connection. Taps on the Watch go straight back to your iPhone. Nothing passes through a Crusty server.
What Crusty doesn’t do
- It doesn’t collect personal information or ask for your name or email.
- It doesn’t track you across apps or websites.
- It doesn’t include third-party analytics, advertising, or tracking code.
- It doesn’t sell or share data, because it doesn’t have any to share.
- It doesn’t send your data to any server except, if you turn on sync, your own iCloud.
Beta testing
If you test Crusty through TestFlight, Apple may share crash reports and the feedback you choose to send with the developer, under Apple’s privacy policy. That is handled by Apple, not by the app.
This website
crusty.app is a static site. It sets no cookies and runs no analytics. Our host, Vercel, keeps standard server logs to operate the service.
Children
Crusty doesn’t knowingly collect information from anyone, including children under 13.
Changes
If this policy changes, the new version will be posted here with a new date. If Crusty ever begins collecting data, the app will ask you first.
